The Descent
This review is based on the region 2 British dvd. Ive seen it seen for the 3 time the other day. Lets just say it rocks! I enjoyed Dog Soldiers a lot but this is a huge step up for director Neil Marshall. It actually has a decent story and acting overall. Im big into “boo” scares and this had a few decent ones. It got pretty intense in a few places when the “baddies” were so close unknowingly to the female antagonists. Very bloody, great gore and cool creature costumes. This version has a cool ending that is supposedly going to be neutered for the american theatrical release. The musical score is nothing ground breaking but definitely adequate for the movie. Oh yeah the movie is about 6 female friends who go on a cave spelunking adventure and get trapped in a cave with the inhabitants who dwell within. The cinematography is excellent in conveying the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in an unknown dark cave. Definitely check it out when it releases in the theater next month. On a ten point scale its a solid 9.2
