The Prologue
As everyone knows now days, Zombies are popular. There’s a new zombie this and a new zombie that each and every month. What we have here is a bit of a documentary about that in the form of The Walking Dead Girls, a DVD you can get from both MVD and Cheezyflicks. While it may not give us anything we haven’t already heard before from George Romero, Bruce Campbell, Lloyd Kaufman, and all the others we see here. It does bring the Zombie Pin-up Girls calender from Cheezyflicks to life as we get a in-depth look at each girl from each month. That in it’s self is kinda cool.
The Movie
So what we got here is interview after interview with such legends as Lloyd Kaufman, Bruce Campbell, Linnea Quigley, George A. Romero and many others. In between that, we get a look at the models who were in the Zombie Pin-Up Girls calender. We get everyone’s ideas and opinions on the whole zombie craze that everyone is taking part in these days, and we also find out such stuff as everyone’s favorite food. Sooo, yeah, not much that you haven’t heard or might want to hear, BUT getting a look at the girls from the calender really comes across as the star of this show.
Billed as a bit of a documentary, this movie really isn’t THAT much of a documentary. Besides everyone giving an opinion on zombies, it’s really just random interviews mixed with some hot women in the middle of them. Lloyd Kaufman tells us he went to school with George Bush. Bruce Campbell makes sure to inform everyone that he actually has a career and doesn’t need to just be in horror stuff. And George Romero tells us he doesn’t have use for a cellphone or car. Soo, we get a little off topic from time to time to say the least.
Like I said before, the girls from the Pin-up Calender, which I have hanging on my wall in front of me as I type this, is the best part of this, even over all the legends. I almost want to ask why we didn’t just make this DVD a straight up look at them without the interviews, seeing as how all the interviews are all over the place anyway. Women sell, zombies sell, I’m sure that calender sold well, so why not just make this all about that? I guess they figured the interviews helped push this to people due to the star power, but I bet people won’t be watching this to see Lloyd Kaufman. They’ll be watching to see the women. The rest comes across as just a distraction.
So it’s a good watch just to see the half naked women from the calender. It’s kinda fun seeing Bruce Campbell be Bruce Campbell. I really couldn’t tell if he was joking or an asshole, but I’ll go with the idea he was just trying to be funny and joking in his interview to save the high regard I hold him in. They say that you never met your heroes due to being disappointed and after seeing some of these interviews I can kinda see why. BUT, you do get some hot women. And they are dressed as zombies. Hot zombies! So there is at least some little something to see here.
The Conclusion
Cheezyflicks and MVD is the places to be if you wish to bring The Walking Dead Girls home for your own enjoyment. It’s not much of a documentary but it is a nice T and A show at times, and you can’t really go wrong with that if you are into girls. You should also get the calender if this based on if you haven’t already. It sure does make the long days go by quicker.
